Lexus Gs Takes Out Best Car Award
Nov 27, 2012– Caringbah, Australia (AutoReleased) – Lexus Gs Takes Out Best Car Award. Lexus’ all-new GS has taken out the Best Large Car over $60,000 category of Australia’s most prestigious motoring award, the 2012 Australia’s Best Cars Award, with its GS 350 F Sport.
The GS 350 F Sport beat its European rivals by outclassing them with its best-in-class handling and dynamics, along with outstanding standard specification and value.
In fact, the GS 350 F Sport received top marks for performance and handling along with its expansive standard safety features.
Judges from the motoring clubs of each Australian state assessed in excess of 300 vehicles against 19 criteria, with particular attention paid to value for money, design, running costs and driving performance.
Lexus Australia chief executive Tony Cramb said that the award was proof of Lexus’ desire to instil more engagement into its vehicles.
“For the past year we’ve said that Lexus is changing, combining more driving enjoyment and engagement with our traditional values of comfort, refinement and outstanding specification – the Best Car Award for GS is proof that we are acting on our promise,” said Mr Cramb.
“The fact that GS has taken out the award in its first year is testament to the efforts of our engineering teams who have delivered not just a driver’s car, but a true luxury sports sedan.
“The GS is just an example of things to come from Lexus, with new products set to inspire and engage at all levels of the ownership experience – be it driving dynamics, design, service and support.”
Australia’s Best Cars judges highlighted the GS’ outstanding dynamics and overall package in testing.
“In a class largely dominated by European marques, premium Japanese brand Lexus has swept all before it to win this prestige motoring category with its GS 350 F Sport,” said the judges.
“Long regarded as the masters of vehicle handling (dynamics), the German makes were outclassed by the Lexus.
“It’s a real gem offering strong response and performance that will surprise and delight.
“Best in-class handling score – would have easily fared well in one of the sports car classes,” said the judges.
The GS 350 F Sport is powered by a 233kW, 3.5-litre quad cam V6, married to a six-speed Sports Direct Shift Transmission.
The GS model also offers dynamic rear steering and Drive Mode Select system that enables drivers to customise drivetrain and chassis performance depending on road conditions.
The GS 350 F Sport carries a RRP of $99,400*.
The GS range starts from $77,400* for the GS 250 Luxury.
