New MAN Waste-collection Vehicles For Piraeus, Greece
New MAN waste-collection vehicles for Piraeus, Greece – Jan 17, 2014– Piraeus, Greece (AutoReleased) – The Greek city of Piraeus is investing in renewing its waste disposal fleet and has put 16 new MAN trucks from the TGL, TGM and TGS ranges into service. The superstructures for the trucks are produced by KAOUSSIS, Greece’s largest manufacturer of waste-collection vehicle superstructures.
The list of requirements of the municipality spanned not only high reliability, efficiency and ruggedness, but also good after-sales support – all areas in which MAN was able to convince the city of its expertise. Maintenance and service of the vehicles will be the responsibility of the superstructure manufacturer, with support by the local MAN service network.
The fleet of new waste-collection vehicles includes MAN TGS 26.360 trucks with tipping body and loading crane, as well as 480-hp TGS 18.480 4×4 all-wheel drive truck and trailer units. Two TGM 18.250 skiploaders complete the new line-up. The compact MAN TGL 10- and 12-tonne vehicles with waste collection superstructures are extremely manoeuvrable, and deal with waste collection in the heavily built-up city streets with enormous efficiency, serving transhipment stations rapidly and saving the heavily loaded vehicles time and costs on their travel to the disposal site.
Waste-disposal specialist A. KAOUSSIS S.A. has operated in Greece for around 50 years. The company’s portfolio of services includes production of superstructures for heavy-duty construction vehicles, container systems and waste-collection transhipment stations.
