2018 Ford F-150 Restyle Emphasizes Strength, Precision

The Ford F-Series has held the title of “best-selling vehicle in America” for more than 40 years running. It hasn’t held that title by being complacent and resting on its laurels. In the last decade, Ford has been pedal-to-the-metal on updates and innovations on the F-150, starting with a full redesign for 2009, all-new engines for 2011, an all-new model for 2015, and another extensive refresh coming for 2018, including updated powertrains with the F-150’s first diesel option.

Telling the story of your innovation and continuous improvement is helped by exterior updates. The 2018 F-150’s redesign is meant to convey, strength, presence, and precision without being too “in your face.”

To that end, the 2018 F-150 features a twin horizontal bar chrome grille on many models to accentuate the truck’s width. Taking a cue from the new Super Duty, the F-150 also incorporates “C-clamp” LED headlights to convey a rugged and high-tech image. The “billet milled” detail that debuted on the 2015 F-150 continues on the 2018 model around the taillights, tailgate and fenders.

The F-150 also features chromed steel bumpers to back up the promise of strength with authentic hardware. Finally, wheel wells, wheels, and tires were carefully selected to fill the space, emphasizing a strong stance, and avoiding an “over-bodied” look. Did Ford designers get it right with the 2018 F-150 redesign or did the 2015 look fine the way it was?
