F250r’s Megaraptor Is A Ford Super Duty On Amphetamines

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is more truck than most people would or could ever need. But what if a twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 making 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque isn’t quite enough to satiate your needs? What if a standard Raptor is far too common and pedestrian for your tastes? The people at F250R are here to fill the 415 lb-ft gap with their new Ford Super Duty-based SuperRaptor and MegaRaptor.

If the standard Ford F-150 Raptor is the original Death Star, consider these two the equivalent of the Death Star II: bigger, less polished, but far more powerful. The trucks start out in life as a 2005-2016 Ford F-250 or F-350 Super Duty. F250R then strips the trucks of any unnecessary parts, leaving essentially a rolling cab and engine as their canvas.

Big fiberglass fenders bulge out over the massive wheel and tire package, with the SuperRaptor wearing 40-inch tires and the MegaRaptor stepping up to 46-inch tires, both trouncing the 35-inch rubber on the standard Raptor. The rear fenders are fitted with lighting from the current F-150, while the one-piece clamshell hood is fitted with current F-150 headlights and a replica Raptor grille. The trucks don’t have bumpers, as those tend to decrease approach angles.

Underneath, the SuperRaptor and MegaRaptor are fitted with an Icon 4.5-inch lift both front and rear, though F250R uses Bilstein 5100 shocks as the Icon’s are too stiff. The SuperRaptor gets Raceline wheels while the MegaRaptor gets multi-piece MRAP wheels. Both trucks use aggressive Michelin XZL rubber.
Suspension, wheels, and tires aside, the biggest thing to set the SuperRaptor and MegaRaptor apart is the 6.7-liter Powerstroke diesel V8 and its 440 horsepower and 925 lb-ft of torque. If that isn’t enough, an optional exhaust package moves the needle all the way up to 580 horsepower and 1,175 lb-ft of torque.

None of this comes cheap. The packages start at $28,000 on top of the price of the base truck, meaning you’re looking at more than $70,000 to start with. Options like the exhaust package, additional lighting, and spare wheels can easily send the price even higher. But hey, you can’t expect to beat a regular Raptor on a budget.
