Feb 20, 2013– Melbourne, Australia  (AutoReleased) – Lexus’ new generation flagship LS sedan has earned a number of high ratings in the Australian Government’s Green Vehicle Guide (GVG).

The newly introduced LS 600h Hybrid model has earned a four-and-a-half star rating, while the long wheelbase version, the LS 600hL*, has improved one full star over the outgoing model to earn four-and-a-half stars.

Both the LS 600h and LS 600hL feature a 5.0-litre V8 Hybrid drivetrain, with an 8-step CVT transmission driving all four wheels.

The new LS 460, which features a 4.6-litre V8 engine driving the rear wheels, has improved half a star over the previous generation to earn a three-and-a-half star rating.

The GVG rates vehicles based on the amount of greenhouse gas and other air pollution they produce.

In addition, the entire LS range has achieved a “Beyond Euro 6″^ exhaust emission standard – meaning it meets current and future emissions standards both locally and overseas.

“Such high ratings in the Green Vehicle Guide are an exceptional achievement for a vehicle that features very high levels of luxury, technology and driving dynamics,” said Lexus Chief Executive Sean Hanley.

“That all models meet the latest European emission controls is further proof of new LS’ highly efficient drivetrains and low-emission engine technology.”

The new LS range goes on sale in Australia this week and launches with a strong order bank of over 20 vehicles.

Additional to pre-sales, a further 30 vehicles have been ordered by dealers to arrive in the coming months.
